Marbling Flemish Cases -3

The white will blend with the other colors, and when the feather is dragged through the same area, many small and convincing veins will appear. Adding more ochre to the veins makes them more organic looking.

Start painting small veins with the fine edges of the feather.

Let your creation dry overnight.

Next, mask off the areas where the pewter grey will go, and paint over the red with two coats. Add the off white and black panel stripping and your finished.

Remember, there wasn't any masking tape in 1630, so it takes quite a bit of practice to paint a straight line with a stripping brush.
